Ruth Roman, born in Lynn Massachusetts to Lithuanian-Jewish Mary Pauline Gold and Abraham Roman Abraham Roman, was the 3rd daughter in their family. Her father's death in the role of a carnival barker as a young girl, she had to help provide for the family by working as a cook and server. Ruth was raised in the tenement area of poverty in Boston, Massachusetts, where she went to school. But she quit school in the span of two years of school to pursue an acting career. The path she chose was filled with problems. When she was offered a job as a model in New York as a model for a detective magazine, she was unable to get jobs in the stage.
